When growing up means looking at the future together

We turned an age older last week. Ever since we became friends, we always celebrate birthdays together. There were also graduation and weddings, but those didnt happen every year hehe.
When i see her growing up and adventuring through life at sometimes a slow, sometimes a very fast pace, i also see a reflection of myself at times. She is really my competitor, my motivator, and most importantly my very very true friend who's got the best shoulder to cry on. I have been through the wheels of life with her: enduring lawschool, building a family, shifting careers, finding defining moments in life...the list just goes on.

Sometimes daily activities and commitments does not permit us to share what we had last time. But it's like they say in the movies, our love/friendship is like the wind, i can't see it, i can sure feel it.

In simple language, we are sort of made up of each other; cos she is so like me, and i am so like her. We had the past with us, and i am confident we will hold the future happily together. Every year.
Happy Birthday old friend, may all your dreams come true! (and mine, hehe)

31.3.2009: Headlines?

What do you read in the morning to start your day?

I usually click on these for starters, just to get on the current national news altho they tend to be just political issues lately, which really bores me:
1) NST
2) Utusan
3) Malaysian Bar

Then of course, these are like newspapers cum magazines:
1) The Guardian (UK)
2) The New York Times

And when there's some more time, but these are amongst my favs actually because of their many many interesting articles:
1) The New Yorker magazine
2) Reader's Digest

A lot of things are easier said than done. Exercise IS one of them.

I find it very difficult to commit to this important activity. Rainy days. The club is too far; traffic-hassle. My shoes don't fit. No exercise buddy. Yada Yada...

When i was still living with my parents it was easier because the park was just across the street. Rite now i cant even get F to exercise with me because he considers my activities not vigorous enough, which simply means a waste of time!

Sigh! Need tips/ideas/motivation for this one.....

30.3.2009 (2)

It was a wonderful weekend. But I had begun this Monday with a lot of blues. A lot of things in my head and one of them is : stress.

I wish people have a general understanding that every individual is a his/her own person. Have different interests and priorities in life. The more educated people are, the more diverse they become. I have underrated the idea of common sense. Someone did say that common sense is not common anymore. Probably true.

But then, THAT is people in general. We are made of very different genes and background, we tend to differ more and to agree less.

When given position, power, responsibility and authority: It's important to not let it go to your head.

It will really make Life better for the rest of us.

26.3.2009

Life at work has been extremely hectic. Lunch appointments made in haste. Blood pressure rising during long meetings. Sometimes it’s unbearable.

Yet, I love the fact that I am working. My dad was right, I was never meant to be domesticated. He was surprised one day when I bought tea. He was like- you’re not domesticated enough to go out and buy tea! Me: yeah rite. Pls I actually visit the grocery shop!

I think that when you have a career, 1) you have a reason to complain- about work, people and a lot of things ☺ 2) you gain self satisfaction when you learn something new everyday 3) you see a future 4) you have a lot of things to talk about other than just husbands, kids, famly, cooking, housekeeping (which are not in my favourite discussion list to begin with).
I really salute some of my friends at work, who are balancing a solid career and family/kids. Most of them go without a daily helper, and yet they give 101% at work. They are so efficient that we forget they actually have another life at home. A life, which is equally important yet, they stand strong and still fun to be with. All the time. This I truly admire.
Right now, a major part of my life (and F’s life ) revolves around the work that we do. We are constantly involved with work; yet he is such a great supporter of the things that I do. Many times, he has more confidence in me than I have in myself. It’s pathetic, but it’s the truth!
I’m happy (and hope i can stay grateful) I finally found some positive things in the things that I do to earn a living. I hope this is and forever will be my cloud with a silver lining.

I am made of these

Hello again. I turn 28 today. It's time for something new.
