Feeding the hungry
YES..this is becoming a baby blog but so what. hehe. Everybody talks about their child no matter who listens.
Anyway, the nite i delivered Luq he latched on straight away. He sucked..cup cup..i thot it was a miracle! Cos i read so much abt people having trouble with their babies latching on. i even took a photo but i'm not gonna post it here :p
Anyway at the hospital (we were there for 10 days) Luq was diagnosed with breastfeeding jaundice. In simple terms, i was not producing enough milk for him. The doctor advised me to supplement him with formula milk, which i did, and he loved. Although then he didnt smell as good as a complete breastfed baby. But i was happy that he was full and had a goodnite's sleep.
When we came home my mother was not too happy with the formula milk, saying i should keep on breastfeeding Luq and my milk will come. Plus Luq was only 12 days old. We have stopped the formula milk, and maybe restart when i am going back to work. I did read somewhere that one' milk supply will suit one's baby.
Which is rather confusing because some people's milk are over abundant. Like they have to pump several times. But when i tried pumping it was just like half and ounce which is not worth pumping, might as well give it straight to Luq who's almost all the time been hanging on my breasts!
Hmm confused mother and milk producer. Please advise.

25 days with Luqman
.jpg)
Today marks Luq's 25th day with us. 25 days for me as a mother. 25 days of the Parent Team. 25 days of not so strict pantang.hehe..btw..Ibu cooked chicken rice with baked chicken for me today. super yummy folks!
Anyway, been wanting to write but my baby baby baby was soo in the way. Motherhood is great. Actually the word 'mother' itself is so under rated. The things we mothers do for our children is seriously out of this world.
Luqman has been such a darling all these 25 days. He hasnt cried unnecessarily (thank God!) . i kinda know his screams now signals: I need food, or i need a diaper change (like NOW! PRONTO!), i hate taking baths (just like the Abah? haha) or i need a cuddle now! (yes i am a boy but i soo need a cuddle!)
I am fortunate to have a great family throughout my pantang. Whenever i need to do other stuff than handling the baby ie. bath, rest, sleep, eat..etc..i can put Luq in the hands of his nenek or abah. So there is some help all the time and i am not left all alone with a confused crying child.
So there is sooo much to look forward to in 2010. I didnt seem to prepare any resolutions (thanks to Luq who messed up my new year plans hehhe)...but this year we are goin to:
1) January- celebrate Luqman's 1 month old!
2) February- Mommy's end of pantang and Abah has promised some shopping and a weekend getaway just the Parent Team and Luq!
3) March- Mommy's 29th birthday and going back to work...eeek! also Kakwa's baby is due!
4) May- Abah's birthday and Mother's day!
5) June- Our 3rd wedding annivesarry
6) July- Father's day :p
7) August, September , October, November- birthdays, puasa and raya!
8) December- Luqman 1 year old..wonder what he will look like?

My one true thing, 25.12.2009

37 weeks and 4 days. 25th December 2009. I gave birth to a beautiful baby son through c-sect at PPUM, at 7.03pm. Alhamdulillah, the emergency operation went well and Muhammad Luqman was one tiny baby at just 2.6kg but had the cutest face ive ever seen. Of course every mother says that, but my lil bundle of joy was really really cute and strong, and had the loudest voice in the OT!
A few minutes after the operation the nurse held Luqman in her arms, brought him to me, showed to me that he was a boy..and i kissed him ..i tried to brreastfeed him but he cried...he was very very fair...almost perfect..it was a MOMENT for us.
It was a complete shock when my water broke at midnite; i hastily thot THIS was really early. Gosh i havent even shopped for maternity bras! Daddy and Ibu drove us to the hospital at midnite, and the rest was history!
Today baby boy, you are 25 days old. Such a short presence in Mommy & Abah's life; but you are the most important thing in our lives now and forever!
We stayed 3 days at the hospital due to my c-sect; and those lonely nites my son and i held arms together, just becoming close companies to each other. I shall never forget on the second nite when i nursed him so much till he fell asleep, so tired myself the nurse took him away to let me rest. I woke up suddenly at 5am and rushed to get my poor son, looking at his face i knew he was crying cos he pooped and needed a cuddle.
Don't worry baby, Mommy will always always be here for you. Welcome to the world my precious son!

Waiting for bunny boy at week 37
Poof! This blog is dusty! we turn 37 weeks last Monday and there is nothing else on my mind (and other people who see me LOL) except baby baby baby. When is the baby coming? Is it a he or a she? What are the proposed names? Are you going to use that expensive XOXO baby formula or what? Have you started your leave?
It's great to be resting at home now, altho i still have some food cravings to fulfill and last minute mothercare shopping. The feeling is: Very heavy at the moment as Bunny Boy has reached 3.2kgs! Oh my what did he eat? It's purely genetic of course; definitely not the food because when i compare to other moms to be i actually am an average eater with very little rice intake. I have gained about 12kgs so far.
I have been reading/googling/getting a lot of tips from young mums as how to manage life as a mum. Really cant wait to cuddle this little one ..the clock is really ticking for us..am praying to have a safe delivery and bring bunny boy safely and happily into this world. I am really not sure when he is ready to come out from his comfy cocoon; doc says it could be anytime! Bunny boy please dont be scared ok, it will be AN experience both for you and i !
We have already decided on a simple name for him, and insyaAllah i want to name him straight away. We have been calling him with his name in utero; and i am sure he knows it by ear and heart now :p
As for my baby's first feed, i'd like to really give a go at breastfeeding. Have read a lot about it; the first few days may be tough. But i will try somehow ..that is why i dont want to even think about any formula milk as a replacement, unless necessary. But then in the event i have to, the shops are just 5 minutes away from home so there really isnt much to worry about .
As to my diet after birth, my mother will take care of it and we are going to combine many types of soups with adequate milk , yogurt, fruits and vegetable that can help me regain strength for breastfeeding.
ok cant wait cant wait!

More books from Kino

I (almost) finished reading most of the bay books given to me; so yesterday was a time for more new ones. I googled Kinokuniya bookweb (still my favourite book shop to date!) and found a book about the unique and special nature of a baby boy.
Later yesterday nite we took a short drive to KLCC and purchased these for my leisure reading - 36 weeks onwards!
I have started on the It's a Baby Boy book and it is such an interesting read; with many research added in the book and life-experiences of moms.
Can't wait to curl up at home and start flipping the pages. Kino i love you!!!

Counting
Cant seem to be doing real work today. Maybe because i have started counting..1..2..3..7 days to my real breakaway from the office! Yippee...there is so much to do before Dec 18th..but i have started getting fidgety and compartmentalizing the urgent work and non-urgent work. Soon this office will be left vacant (and dusty! and ringing phones left unanswered) for 2 months or more.
Truthfully, it is not wise to work under these conditions. The stress and the drama - not good for my body, soul and my baby of course. Yesterday, i heard an argument for over an hour, my baby must have been very stressed as i then had severe backache till i went to bed at 10pm. Poor poor baby!
I pity that in this utero-life u had to listen to all the gossips; the gruesome words, the fighting , the inconsolable so called legal practitioners...
It's not that i dont want you to be in the legal line. I think the legal line is a good line...wait...IT's the BEST line to be in!(yes i have proof to that) You can now scrape off your other ambitions heheh. But i pray hard that you would not be like any of them...

Baby wearing & Feeding

I was having chit chats with my parents about baby buying and my dad said that one of the most useful items he bought when we had the 'spoilt brat' (wayyyy in 1989) was the baby carrier. More useful than the stroller at that time because she was a tiny 44 days old baby and we took her to Singapore! So it was babywearing all the way.
I purchased my Babybjorn form mothercare a few weeks ago..at an excellent price! we opted for a brown color to match my nursing cover and baby bag. (mengade kann) Also, cos F refused any girlie color whatsoever, even rejected the color grey. We opted for the Babybjorn cos it was highly recommend by friends and people online, and looks like it was really easy to operate. Best! cant wait to babywear!

Still waiting for this Bebe Au Lait to arrive.. lama la plak! Cant wait to touch it hehe...I bought this as a gift for myself; that's y siap beli the gift set lagik! Can't recommend it yet as it has yet to arrive, but i did have to splurge on this item!
Rosti Rosti Rosti

The gurls and i have not met for so long. Months and months to be exact! So we met at Marche last weekend and i discovered ROSTI. This Swiss baked/cooked potato that taste like hasbrown but EVEN better cos mine had cheese, sour cream and ketchup. Plus it was not that expensive pun. i think tiap-tiap minggu makan pun ok hehhe.
I googled and found that it is very easy to prepare and the taste is awesome, looks great too. A good way to impress guests with my very limited culinary skills (is u know what i mean!).
Can't wait to but a cheese grater cos i need that to make rosti. Cant wait to use up my kitchen...(yang tak siap2 lagi tu!) and cant wait to cook something delicious!
Wah cooking at 35 weeks? hmm some compliments to myself now!
Planning my leave
It's already December 2009 y'all! Woohoo! Time to fill up those unused leave days and maybe just leave some for the good old golden handshake?
Ive actually applied for leave from Xmas to end of the year. Hopefully i will continue till January -that's when my EDD is. Sounds practical rite? apa malas sangat keje ni!
But after such bad contractions i had last week and i have put on one more KG (!!) , i feel so heavy and very tired and work has been nothing but crazy and stressful! (so not healthy for mother ok!)Seriously Duta is so not the place to be at 35 weeks ! (except for lunch rendezvous with my colleagues i guess heheh)
So F suggested i take 4 more days of leave after awal muharram; since i should enjoy some break AND that his parents are coming time cuti awal muharram tu. Hopefully by that time our contractor will be ready to install our kitchen cabinets, hence we can do all in one. Seems possible , if i can manage to finish all my work by this week and next week, then i will be a hip hip hooray gal and just wait for my bundle of joy to arrive!
And Xmas sale here we come!
